1. Family, Food and Fun Summer Program:  This 10-week summer program addresses food insecurity experienced by children and/or youth in our community. Each week includes dinner provided by a community group; a family activity; and the distribution of a food bag with 2 days’ worth of meals to each child, as well as a family bag that includes a loaf of bread, peanut butter and jelly, a healthy recipe with ingredients to prepare at home, and health and wellness tips. Registration for this program occurs in May. The program runs from June through August.  Students receive a backpack with school supplies on the last day of the program. If you have any questions or would like to register, please call Jeanette Mazzola, Family Engagement Manager, at 216-631-4741 ext. 112. Past participants have stated:

“I liked that it helps feed my kids all summer and the chance for family to get together.”

“I liked the dinner, the art, meeting new people and having something to do with my family.”

“I liked that the program kept the kids and adults involved.”

2. Field Trips/Special Events: Family Engagement staff plans, coordinates, and assists with various field trips and events for children, youth and their families.  This might include trips to Luther’s Farms during the fall, sporting events, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and museums.

3. Trunk-or-Treat (Halloween Event):  The WSCC Associate Board Members plan this Halloween event. It provides an opportunity for children and youth to celebrate Halloween in a safe, family-friendly and fun-filled space. Look for the flyer in October and call to reserve your family’s spot.

4. Holiday Dinner and Concert for Families:  This event is held around Christmas and in collaboration with the Landskroner Foundation for Children and Roots in American Music Band. Dinner is provided and served by a community partner. Join us for good food, company and good holiday music. Space is limited so reservation is required.
